The Spirit of Advent: A Time of Hope and Reflection

Advent is a special season of waiting and preparation in the Christian calendar. It begins four Sundays before Christmas and invites us to reflect on the profound HOPE, PEACE, JOY, and LOVE that the coming of Christ brings to the world. Each candle lit on the Advent wreath reminds us of these eternal promises, drawing us closer to God’s heart.

For many, Advent is a time to slow down amidst the season’s busyness and focus on the deeper meaning of Christmas. It is a time to remember the humble birth of Jesus in a manger, to renew our faith in God’s promises, and to extend generosity and kindness to others in need.

As we journey through Advent, may we find moments of quiet reflection and opportunities to share the love of Christ with those around us. Let the light of Advent inspire us to bring hope into the lives of others and shine brightly in a world yearning for compassion and unity.

From all of us at East Croydon United Reformed Church, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones this Advent season. May your hearts be filled with peace and joy as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Saviour.

Best wishes and blessings,
East Croydon United Reformed Church
